Between Barolo and La Morra, on the Langhe terrace

To fully appreciate the hills where the king of all wines is born, we offer an easy easy route, which connects Barolo to La Morra. A scenic route on foot that crosses some of the most well-kept and precious vineyards in the world.

Starting from Piazza Cabutto, in the upper part of Barolo, leave the village and continue in the direction of Alba, along the provincial road. You will come to a small roundabout that separates Barolo from Borgata S. Lorenzo. Take on the right as to go down to Gallo Grinzane. After a hundred meters you will see a small road on your left, which slopes down towards the vineyards: it is Via Bergesia from which our path begins. You will skirt a hedge that will preclude your view, but a few steps further on, suddenly, in front of you, the natural amphitheater that connects Barolo to La Morra will open, visible at the top, on the opposite side: vineyards as far as the eye can see that from the crests of the hills slide along slopes divided by the nervous stretches of dusty streets.

Go down to Cascina Sarmassa and continue until the crossroads. Here continue straight, following the signs for La Morra. Walk along Cascina Merenda until you reach Borgata Cerequio, the scene of a sad event of blood during the period of the Second World War. On August 29, 1944, eighteen partisans were shot in the courtyard of the Averame farmhouse, after being captured by the republics. Today a plaque commemorates the episode.

Da qui la strada comincia a salire verso la splendida cornice di La Morra, una delle capitali riconosciute del Barolo DOCG, nota per la sua posizione privilegiata. Proseguite in linea retta tenendo La Morra sempre in testa. Giungerete così in via Roma, prendete a destra e camminate fino in piazza Vittorio Emanuele, dove potrete sostare al Vinbar accompagnando un sorso dei vini locali ad un piccolo aperitivo. Da qui proseguite in via Roma arrampicatevi fino al belvedere prendendo sulla destra Via Umberto I: un’ampia balconata a strapiombo sulla vallata. Potrete ammirare quasi tutta la langa dell’albese, le coltivate con le migliori uve, i vigneti ordinati e curati, stradine e sentieri. Non potrà mancare una visita alla torre campanaria, alta trentun metri, a pianta quadrata e suddivisa su cinque piani.

Il consiglio, a questo punto è quello di perdervi tra le bellissime vie del paese, alla ricerca di un enoteca o un osteria che possano ristorarvi dopo la passeggiata. Siete nel cuore delle Langhe e non sarà certo difficile soddisfare la vostra fame di conoscenza!
