Outdoor tourism: Journey the Langhe in an authentic, personal and immersive experience

Saturday, November 17, from 9:30 am at La Cantina Comunale di La Morra, the Fondazione CRC and Lange del Sole will be hosting a round-table discussion dedicated to outdoor tourism in the Langhe. The special guest will be Andrea Bruno, the Italian champion of Enduro MTB.

From the BarToBar to the GTL. From WOW – Wonderful Outdoor Week to the Bike Land cycle project and the nascent Lange del Sole. LANGA E-TOURING is the opportunity to draw back the curtain on the growing outdoor tourism sector in the Langhe.

LANGA E-TOURING

The round-table has the task of presenting to the public, to the media and tourism professionals in the area the results and prospects of the tangible and intangible infrastructure built over the last few years thanks to the investment and support of the Regione Piemonte and the Fondazione CRC. They have been able to open up the opportunities of outdoor tourism and territorial experiences in the Langhe thanks to an extensive network of hiking and biking paths.

Bicycle and hiking-focused tourism offers are an opportunity for growth in the Langhe as they naturally complete the food and wine experiences of the area. Trekking and biking prolong the time tourists spend exploring these hills and promotes diversified and seasonal tour experiences.

THE SPEAKERS

The round-table will be opened by Giandomenico Genta, the President of the Fondazione CRC, the principle supporting organization of outdoor tourism in the Langhe. In 2013, with an annual allocation of 150,000 euros, the Fondazione CRC in collaboration with ATL del Cuneese, the Entee Turismo Alba Bra Langhe e Roero, and the Camera di Commercio Cuneo gave life to the WOW – Wonderful Outdoor Experience initiative. This project actively promotes outdoor tourism in the local mountains, hills and plains. Giuseppe Artuffo, the president of the committee that leads the project, will elaborate on its successes. The Fondazione CRC is continuing to invest in the future of the sector. Over the span of 2018 to 2020, 600,000 euros will be allocated to Bike Land from the Langhe to the Alps. This project aims to enhance the biking and hiking routes that connect the landscape heritage of the Langhe, the Cebano, the Tanaro river, the Alta Val Tanaro and the Monregalesi Valleys.

Alongside the President of the Fondazione CRC, the principal stakeholders of outdoor tourism in the Langhe will also be present. Further speakers include: Paolo Caligaris, an official of Regione Piemonte who is specialized in the programming and organization of local heritage hiking routes; Livio Genesio, Vicepresident of the Unione di Comuni Colline di Langa e del Barolo; Roberto Bodrito, President of the Unione Montana Alta Langa; Mauro Carbone, Director of the Entee Turismo Alba Bra Langhe e Roero; Marialuisa Ascheri, Mayor of La Morra, the host town; Giorgio Ferraris, Mayor of Ormea; and Giuliano Viglione, Vicepresident of the Fondazione CRC.

FROM BARTOBAR TO THE LANGA DEL SOLE

LANGA E-TOURING will be a preview of two recent initiatives launched by the Fondazione CRC.

First, is an overlook at the process of naming the BarToBar bike path network. It is a 124km circuit that is within Bike Land and connects Barolo to Barbaresco by passing through the Alta Langa. The analysis was carried out by Stefania Libietti (Outdoor Travel) with Andrea Bruno, the Italian champion of Enduro MTB and the day’s honoured guest. In 2018, BarToBar reached a second important milestone; 28 Pagus Shelters, multifunctional parking and charging stations for electric bikes, were installed in main towns along the route.

Second, the presentation of the local development project, Langa del Sole. It is an association of 19 municipalities that are united in the goal to create a coherent and integrated system of suggested activites in the Alta Langa that are narrative-driven and can be transformed into lived experiences in the region. The Langa del Sole project will be presented by Ezio Cardinale, Mayor of Diano d’Alba and Project Lead, and Francesco Minetti, CEO of Well Com, the communications agency in charge of developing the Langa del Sole brand.

INAGURATION OF THE DIORAMA OF THE LANGA DEL SOLE

At the end of the round-table, the town of La Morra will have the great honour of unveiling the first of the Langa del Sole’s development projects. At 13:00 at the Porta di San Martino, the Outdoor Cycling Diorama will be revealed. It is a morphological map of the Langa that, through an interactive system, will be able to inform cyclists on available routes and share information about the towns and villages they will cross.
