Langa del Sole, a local development project, along with Giandomenico Genta, the President of the Fondazione CRC, inaugurate the Outdoor Cycling Diorama. This is the first big unveiling of a Langa del Sole initiative. It is an interactive map of the Langhe that promotes the biking and hiking routes of the Langhe.
Saturday, November 17, the President of the Fondazione CRC, Giandomenico Genta, unveiled the first initiative completed by the Langa del Sole, a local development project in the Alta Langa. It is called the Outdoor Cycling Dioroma and is located in the Porta di San Martino in La Morra. The Diorama is a controlled access outpost where cyclists and hikers can consult an interactive map system for specific routes and recommended itineraries to best discover the villages and nature of the Langhe.
The Outdoor Cycling Diorama is a “viritual lookout”, near the real lookout of La Morra, that offers outdoor enthusiasts a detail morphological map of the Langhe area. From Barbaresco to Barolo it is possible to trace out an accurate biking route. By scanning a QR code, the Diorama provides information on over 60 municipalities in the area and overview of the bike/hike path network that connects them. At the Diorama, it is possible to get all the necessary information on the BarToBar, a 124km route from Barolo to Barbaresco; the GTL (Grande Traversata delle Langhe), which in 60km connects Santo Stefano Belbo to Saliceta; and 28 Pagus Shelters where cyclists can take a break, recharge e-bikes, find tools for repairs and get tourist information.
The Outdoor Cycling Diorama is more than just a “virtual lookout.” Within the Porta di San Martino, which the Langa del Sole has restored, tourists can find touch screens and 3D maps that share the stories of the Alta Langa. Videos of life in these hills, audio clips telling the tales of time, and interactive maps immerse visitors in the culture and history of the Langhe, providing a more diverse and holistic adventure tourism experience. The information has been provided by the Langhe’s most prominent touristic digital destinations: Tu Langhe Roero, Langa del Sole, BarToBar, Unione Comuni Alta Langa and the Comune di La Morra. The Outdoor Cycling Diorama is the first controlled access site managed by the Langa del Sole. Visitors can access with their mobile devices by using the free WiFi at Porta di San Martino.
At the LANGA E-TOURING round-table, Giandomenico Genta, the President of the Fondazione CRC, along with a host of guests, unveiled and discussed the opportunities of outdoor tourism in the Alta Langa. Guest speakers included Paolo Caligaris, an official of the Regione Piemonte who is specialized in heritage hiking routes; Giuseppe Artuffo, President of the Wonderful Outdoor Week committee; Livio Genesio, Vicepresident of the Unione di Comuni Colline di Langa e del Barolo; Roberto Bodriot, President of the Unione Montana Alta Langa; Mauro Carbone, Director of the Ente Turismo Alba Bra Langhe e Roero; Marialuisa Ascheri, Mayor of La Morra; Giorgio Ferrari, Mayor of Ormea; and Giuliano Viglione, Vicepresident of the Fondazione CRC.
