Convegno Langa del Sole

Authenticity and cultural heritage in the international tourism overview: on Thursday 26 September, Diano d’Alba will be the capital of a type of tourism that has the concept of “wilderness” as its strong point.

On Thursday 26 September, from 9:00 am to 1:00pm, Servaj Festival will be the ideal stage for a particular meeting.

There will be an international convention opened to all locals in order to explore tourism potentials of the territory and a discussion board to present the first Sentieri Servaj (Servaj trails) available for horse riding. The meeting, entitled as “Modelli di turismo per la Langa del Sole” (Tourism models for Langa del Sole), will show the development of its project, of the same name, and present national and international cases in which the rediscovery of the “wild” has been the driving force for new touristic, business and cultural progress, by discussing the concept of wilderness.

The Order of journalists has acknowledged the importance of this convention and it will allot 4 credits to journalists who will participate. Registration is already open online on the Sigef platform.

THE DISCUSSION BOARD

At 2:30pm, in the same venue, Langa del Sole will be opening a round table discussion entitled A cavallo nella Langa ën creusa (“Horse riding in the Langa ën creusa”), one of the first discussion tables to be opened to operators working in this sector in order to explore the potential of equestrian tourism and demonstrate the first available trails in the area surrounding Diano d’Alba.

LECTURES

Modera Aldo Buzio, Director Turismo in Langa

  1. “The case of enogastronomic and rural tourism in Portugal and in the valley of Douro UNESCO Heritage Site”

Carlos Duarte Coelho Peixeira Marques, Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro

The presentation will discuss the case of Portugal as an example of international touristic promotion and development in which local sites, wine landscape and cultural heritage have attracted the attention of international tourism, in the same manner as the areas of Langhe and Roero. The valley of Douro has a peculiarity that is similar to that of the Langhe: the coexistence, in the same territory, of some areas which are highly attractive to international tourists for the presence of great wines and other neighboring ones that still express the authenticity of the rural landscapes and economy that characterizes them.

  1. Projects and communities in the valley of Rioja – cultural heritage and sustainable development

Julio Grande Ibarra, Director Sepinum

For years, Sepinum has operated in Spain in order to promote local cultural heritage and strengthen the community that inhabits it. Projects that combine cultural heritage and landscape with tourism have skills and local resources that enable them to be true pioneers in sustainable development and well-being for the residents.

  1. Foreste Casentinesi National Park: a development strategy based on nature, tourism and cultural heritage

Luca Santini, President Foreste Casentinesi National Park

After an application procedure started in 2014 and a visit of an auditor from Europarc, Foreste Casentinesi National Park received an important recognition from the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in 2015. Today, the park is an example of a territory in which an approach mindful of nature and considerate of the revival of cultural traditions is the driving force for a sustainable tourism development of the entire area.
