Langa del Sole will guest at Famija Albèisa’s Social Festival: “the balon and the hills in hand”

Sunday 8 December 2019 marks the annual gathering for Famija Albèisa’s Social Festival. Langa del Sole will be a special guest, with an in-depth study dedicated to the world of the pantalera.

Sunday 8 December 2019 marks the annual gathering for Famija Albèisa’s Social Festival. Langa del Sole will be a special guest, with an in-depth study dedicated to the world of the pantalera.

For Famija Albèisa’s Social Festival, which falls on the festivity of the Immaculate Conception this year, Langa del Sole will be a special guest of a program dedicated to the celebration of having origins in Alba.

At Famija Albèisa’s headquarters (via Pierino Belli, 6) the festival will start at 10:00am by welcoming the members, their families and friends. Opening remarks will then be given by the president Antonio Ribaldi, which will precede the projection of the most significant moments of the social activity of this moral institution, a true icon of Alba culture and promoter of its conservation.

Two awards will be given: the consignment of the “Targa Famija Albèisa” to the district of Moretta, with the presence of stage actors; and the certificate of “Friend of the city of Alba” to the notary Vincenzo Toppino, for his commitment to protect the historical game of “pallone elastico” – typical of Alba –, its competitive sphere and for the conservation of the Mermet court field.

LANGA DEL SOLE’S PART

The games of pallone elastico and pantalera – the version of this sport as played in the High Langa – will be the topic of the lecture by Mauro Rabino, architect and project manager of Langa del Sole. “Il gioco del balon e… le colline in pugno” (The game of balon and the hills in hand) is the title of the lecture that, through the screening of unpublished documentaries, conversations and comments of the main people of this field, will further illustrate the relationship between the pantalera and the meaning of having origins from Alba.

  • Caramelized veal cheek in Nascetta wine with carrots
  • Typical Piedmont Christmas dessert
  • Pears cooked in wine
  • Coffee and grappa
  • Wines: Arneis, Dolcetto d’Alba, Nebbiolo d’Alba, Moscato

 

INFO AND RESERVATIONS

Reservations for lunch can be made until Wednesday 4 December at Famija Albèisa’s secretariat (open every day from 3:30pm to 6:30pm, except for Saturdays and public holidays). Lunch costs 30 euro. The annual membership card can also be renewed. For those who will renew their membership card and also in occasion of the Social Festival, there will be a 30% discount if you purchase Nando Vioglio’s “Mermet e storie di ordinaria albesità”.

The Festival will be hosted by the actor Paolo Tibaldi, accompanied by the accordions of the Berruto Band.
